The Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) is Norway’s leading institute for basic and applied research on marine and freshwaters. We combine research, monitoring, evaluation, problem-solving and advisory services at international, national and local levels.
The NIVA group has approximately 340 employees. NIVA´s head office is in Oslo with regional offices in Bergen, Grimstad, Hamar, Copenhagen and China, a research station at Drøbak (Oslofjord), as well as subsidiaries in Tromsø and Chile.
Qualifications and experience:
You have a PhD degree in a relevant field within the natural sciences. You have a profound understanding of biochemical processes on soil-water interactions in semi-natural boreal and temperate catchments. Furthermore, you like to work with building, combining and analyzing large datasets and to publish results in scientific papers, in addition to policy-relevant forms of dissemination. You are interested in the application of new and established data analysis tools such as statistical and process-based models.
The successful candidate has experience with applied research and documented ability to obtain research funding. Furthermore, the candidate is interested in taking a coordinating role in order to successfully manage large, multi-partner collaborative projects on the science-policy interface. The candidate is motivated by being part of a team and has good communication skills. Excellent written and spoken English skills are expected and skills in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish are desirable.
