Registration is now open for this year’s virtual component of the 2023 CTG fall workshop. This year, the virtual meeting will take place on Zoom on Monday November 13 from 6–9 PM EST, with the possibility of a second night (Tuesday November 14, 6–9 PM EST) if there are many presenters. The virtual meeting is free and open to everyone, regardless of whether you attend the field trip or not.
If you are not a CTG member yet, you can participate for free. However, we strongly encourage you to join the CTG. CTG membership is important to organize events, reward excellence in our community with annual awards, award travel grants to students to attend the annual GAC-MAC meeting, etc. To join the CTG, you must join the Geological Association of Canada and select membership to the "Canadian Tectonics Group" division. Benefits of joining the GAC are described here.
For the virtual meeting, we are looking for people to give presentations on their ongoing research in the form of 15-minute talks, with an additional 5 minutes for questions and change over. If you plan on presenting, please complete the attached registration form and send to Dana Silerova (dana.silerova@smu.ca) by October 24 so that we can get a sense of numbers. Please indicate on the form if you are available to present both nights (Nov. 13 & 14) or only one. Talks from graduate students are especially sought - it is a good opportunity to present preliminary results and get feedback in an informal setting.
The deadline for abstract submission is November 1. Please use the attached template and send as a PDF to Lyal Harris (Lyal.Harris@inrs.ca).
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
