Status: Full-Time Term (1 year with possible extension)
Salary: $63,693.50 to $89,002.94 per annum ($35.00 to $48.90/hr)
Based in Whitehorse, YT
Overview:
Project Managing KFN’s Wind Energy development. This position works to address climate change from a holistic perspective and in alignment with First Nation Values. The position will help KFN work towards reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and becoming more sustainable and self-reliant.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Assist with project planning by soliciting technical resources, evaluating technical options, and understanding feasibility, environmental assessment studies and regulatory options;
- Conduct comparative cost benefit analysis of energy generation options;
- Organize technical skills training to develop understanding of installing and maintaining renewable energy systems, including storage;
- Encourage and assist in conducting energy assessments and accessing retrofit building funding to improve energy efficiency;
- Proven knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency options, in addition to strong familiarity with the Yukon’s and Yukon First Nations current energy situation;
- Demonstrated experience working with Yukon First Nations and in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders on projects. Ability to seek and acquire resources and understand complex assessments;
- Excellent organizational skills, communication skills, writing skills, and editing skills. Demonstrated confidence and the ability to follow through on assigned duties independently within strict deadlines;
- Ability to problem-solve and think creatively using a strengths-based approach;
- Ability to network and maintain strong relationships with other colleagues in the energy sector;
- Experience with project financial management. Demonstrate tact, intuition and diplomacy, strong work ethic, good judgment and ability to work well in a team environment;
- Working knowledge of computer software such as MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and internet;
Educational and Experience:
A post-secondary degree in science, economics, planning renewable energy, natural resources or sustainability or equivalency obtained through course work and/or work experience. Two years’ experience working with or liaising with Yukon First Nation governments and organizations on projects and programs. Experience working in an energy-focused capacity.
