Le réseau DIVEX et l’INRS organisent un colloque sur le potentiel de la géothermie au Québec et dans l’est du Canada le 1^er mai 2014 à Québec. L’objectif de cette journée est de mettre en contact les chercheurs intéressés par l’énergie géothermique dans la région et ceux qui ont une expertise dans ce domaine. Des présentations seront données par des conférenciers invités, une séance d’affiche sera ouverte pour ceux qui désirent présenter leurs travaux et les discussions pourront être continuées pendant le cocktail de fin de journée. Les participants seront des gens provenant de l’industrie de la géothermie ainsi que des scientifiques universitaires, gouvernementaux et industriels qui désirent en apprendre davantage sur cette technologie encore peu connue au Québec.

Un cours intensif Introduction to Geothermal est aussi offert la journée précédent le colloque, le 30 avril. Le cours sera donné en anglais par Lena Patsa de l'Université de la Colombie-Britannique qui est une spécialiste de la géothermie et une ambassadrice de la formation en géothermie. Le cours présentera des aspects fondamentaux de la production d’énergie, des principes d’ingénierie et de l’évaluation des ressources associés à la géothermie pour un auditoire scientifique non-ingénieur.

DIVEX and INRS are organizing a workshop addressing the potential of geothermal energy in Quebec and Eastern Canada on 1 May 2014 in Québec City, Quebec. The goal of this one-day workshop is to bring together those who are interested in advancing geothermal energy in the region with those who have an expertise in the field. Invited speakers will give presentations and there will be an open poster session for participants to present their work and time for discussion during a cocktail hour. The audience will consist of those already involved in the geothermal industry and academia, industry and government representatives who would like to learn more about this subject.

There will also be a short course, “Introduction to Geothermal” the day before the workshop, April 30^th, which will provide an introduction to geothermal energy. Lena Patsa from the University of British Columbia, a specialist in geothermal energy and an advocate for geothermal education, will give the short course. Subject matter will include geothermal energy production, engineering principles and resource evaluation fundamentals, geared towards geoscientists.
